About Us ("Frequently Asked Questions")

What is Triangle Stage?

Triangle Stage ("TS") is a Web-based application. It is the first project of Digital Stage, LLC, a North Carolina startup company. The Digital Stage team aims to build a flexible technology platform for the use of the local entertainment industry and everyone who enjoys live music, theater, and comedy. TriangleStage.com is an example of how that platform can be used, but is not the only project that we hope to create.

What does Triangle Stage offer? What makes it useful?

The Research Triangle has a large and vibrant entertainment scene, with music clubs, performing arts centers, theaters of all sizes, auditoriums, outdoor venues and amphitheaters, and dozens of bars, pubs, restaurants, breweries, shops, food courts, parks, and many other indoor and outdoor spaces, all with one thing in common: a "Stage" where performances are given. We classify all of these "stage-having" places as "Venues"; the performances that happen on the stages "Events"; and the individuals and groups people that perform "Artists" or "Acts". We collect and aggregate, from multiple sources, all of the available information about these Venues, Events, and Artists, and present it to the public through a single interface which is the Triangle Stage web application.

But this information is already publically available. Why should I use Triangle Stage instead of Venue websites, for example?

We urge you to use the venue websites as much as necessary. You will find them linked in many places on Triangle Stage, along with the Artist Web and Spotify pages, and other resources. We provide a portal to the detailed information and services (such as ticket sales) that can only be found on other web sites. What Triangle Stage provides is a "one-stop shopping" experience from which you can navigate the entire Triangle entertainment scene and zero in on what interests you. Then, we make it quick and easy to buy tickets, access directions and ratings, or make a deep dive into a particular artist or venue. You must access the venue sites when it comes to verifying event details and artist lineups, buying tickets, or finalizing plans.

What advantages does Triangle Stage provide?

Triangle Stage is a data "aggregator" that offers a single interface to a large collection of data that can only be found across many other information sources. We find, organize, and present that data to you in what we hope is a user-friendly and powerful user experience that provides ways of looking at Triangle entertainment in new ways. For example, we group Venues by their Type and location, so that you can discover that jazz club or that outdoor stage that you didn't know about. Or, you can research artists with their Spotify, YouTube, and website links quickly and easily.

How do you choose what to show? Is it only ticketed performances, for example? Or only venues above a certain capacity?

There is no fixed criteria for what information we will hold in TS. We seek to eventually capture everything of any interest that happens on a stage in the Triangle. This includes venues large or small, indoor, outdoor; events both free and ticketed, artists who are famous, popular, locally known, just starting out, and everything in between. Some event types, like Karaoke, or community events, are included or excluded based on the other offerings of that particular Venue.

With so many performances listed, how will I find what I am looking for?

This is an important question. The answer lies in learning to use the tools provided for the purposes of selecting and sorting information on TS. Those tools are: Categories and sub-Categories, Searching, Sorting, and Filtering. These are familiar to almost everyone since they are part of apps that people use every day: social apps, shopping apps, banking and bill-paying apps, etc, so it shouldn't be too difficult. To help you become a TS "Power User", we are working on a "Tips and Tricks" page and a video for a step-by-step breakdown of the available features. And we're just getting started, so expect new features and content to arrive soon.

You have no advertising or sign-up required to access your content. Is this by design?

Yes. TS will always provide an advertising-free user experience. We DO accept donations to help offset our operating expenses and allow us to keep growing. Changes will be coming, but we will never accept advertising or charge a subscription to view content.

Do you plan to add user logins and membership-oriented features at some point?

Yes! Signing in and becoming a member will always be optional, but the future direction of TS is as a local community organized around the live entertainment scene. Those who wish to join will be able to access personalized features (favorites lists, tags, content editing and creation, data exports, saved searches, alerts, and more). This will require a free membership and sign-in with a TS username or social media credentials. We are actively seeking opinions on how this would be best implemented and what features would be of interest. Realistically, these features would probably not be available until the third quarter of 2026. We will keep you posted and please pass along your ideas via "Contact Us".

I see myself (my band/my solo act/my venue) listed on Triangle Stage. Can I edit the information? Can I remove it?

Yes to both. For now, please use the Contact Us page to send a message identifying yourself and what changes you would like to have made. If you do not want to appear in Triangle Stage, please send us a request for removal. Once we have verified that you do in fact represent the artist or act that you are requesting changes to, your requests will be fulfilled. In the future, participating artists will have a TS login that is tied to their artist profile so that they can make whatever changes they wish at any time, including promoting their own Events. This is connected to the membership features discussed above, and is also expected to be available in Q3 2026.

There is some information on Triangle Stage that I know is incorrect. What can I do to correct it?

If it concerns you personally or you as a member of a performing group, see the comment directly above. We will immediately correct or update information upon receving a request from a listed Artist. If it is about a venue, same thing (as long as you have some verification that you represent that venue). But, please keep in mind that our venue information and images come directly from Google, and is updated periodically, so the best approach might be to make the correction in your Google Business account and then notify us to run an update. We will pick up and immmediately display the correction.
